Privacy Policy

Effective August 2, 2026

This policy covers two different things: the small amount of data we hold about you, our customer, and the public government records we republish about businesses and the people who filed for them. The second is the part most people are looking for — it is section B, and it includes how to get a listing removed.

A1. What we collect about customers

• Your email address, if you create an account. We sign you in with a link sent to that address — we never ask for or store a password.
• Billing data, if you subscribe. Card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we store only the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, and its renewal date.
• What you saved — the leads you marked, the territories you defined, and notes or contact details you typed in yourself.
• Basic analytics — aggregate page views and performance timings via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. No advertising trackers, no third-party ad cookies, no cross-site profiles.

A2. Cookies

We set only functional cookies: your session, your light/dark preference, your active territory, and a "last seen" date so the New tab can show what changed. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, which is why you are not asked to accept anything.

A3. Who we share customer data with

Only the vendors that run the service: Stripe (payments), Postmark (sign-in and notification email), Vercel (hosting and analytics), and Neon (database). Each processes data on our behalf. We do not sell customer data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data if legally compelled, or to protect the service.

A4. Security and retention

We keep reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the data we hold, as required by New York's SHIELD Act. Passwordless sign-in means there is no password database to breach. If a breach affects personal information of New York residents, we will notify affected people and the required state authorities without unreasonable delay. We keep account data while your account is open and for a short period afterward for tax and accounting records; ask us and we will delete what we are not required to retain.

B1. The public records we republish

The lead data comes from records published by government agencies as open data — New York City building permits and certificates of occupancy, consumer-affairs licenses and applications, health inspections, and New York State liquor license filings. Both NYC Open Data and Open NY expressly permit commercial use. Where a filing names a person — an applicant, licensee, or contact — that name and any filed phone number appear in the record as the agency published it. We do not enrich records with data from any other source, we do not append personal phone numbers or emails, and we do not build profiles of individuals.

B2. Removal requests

If your name, phone number, or business appears here and you want it removed, email support@grandopening.nyc with the address or listing. We will suppress it from the site and from exports. You do not need to explain why, and you do not need an account.

Two honest caveats. We are honoring these voluntarily — the records stay public at the source agency, and removing a listing here does not remove it from the agency that published it. And because we re-import from those agencies continuously, suppression is applied as a standing rule against re-import; if a suppressed listing ever reappears, tell us and we will fix it.

B3. What the data may not be used for

Our Terms of Service prohibit customers from using this data for credit, insurance, employment, or housing decisions (it is not a consumer report), and from using any filed phone number for automated calling or texting.
